CASE STUDY

Context: Trust Essentials refers to the basis of the Pillar of Trust model. They refer to four elements that enable learners to frame trust and enhance their understanding of the Pillar of Trust model. 

Challenges: Because the concepts were rather complex, one of the main challenges was how to explain something complex through simple language structures and "sticky" visuals, that would facilitate the cognitive processing of the conceptual structures. A second challenge was  finding the right balance between the amount of text, the quality of it and the associated visuals. 

Solutions:The complexity of the Trust Essentials concepts was addressed through two complementary design decisions. 

First, the content was structured using progressive disclosure — introducing each of the four trust elements sequentially, allowing learners to build understanding incrementally rather than confronting the full model at once. 

Second, the module was paired with a dedicated explainer video introducing the broader Pillar of Trust model, so that by the time learners engaged with the Rise content, the conceptual framework was already visually anchored. Throughout, language was kept deliberately conversational and the visual design was built around simple, consistent iconography to reduce cognitive load and support retention of the core concepts. 

Results: This module was developed as part of a client collaboration. Formal evaluation data was not available to the designer.
